Water, water everywhere! Experience the perfect mix of adventure, culture, and R&R along the numerous water sources of Ghana. Boat ride on the exotic Volta River, feel the mist of majestic tropical waterfalls, and stroll along the lagoon walkways of the unique stilt village. From historic coastal forts to crocodile ponds and hanging loose at sandy beaches, your suimsuit won’t have time to dry in between uses! Immerse yourself, or rather, submerge yourself in the warm embrace of Ghanaian waters.
Your Water Lovers experience begins in Accra, where your personal Experience Curator will meet your arriving flight at Kotoka International Airport. Depending on your arrival, there may be time for a neighbourhood or Accra city orientation. You are then whisked off in an air-conditioned vehicle to our first water destination of Kokrobite, a coastal resort town known for its white sandy beaches.

A long drive day, broken up by pleasant stopovers. Enjoy the scenic coastal drive to Busua, a wide beach that is one of Ghana’s most beautiful. Relax on its sandy shores, or sign up for a surfing lesson (for extra fee). In the afternoon, head out for a beach hike, or bike to Dixcove to visit Fort Metal Cross, a British military structure from 1692 and a World Heritage site.

Early departure this morning for the beach village of Beyin, located near the western border with Cote d’Ivoire. Take a canoe ride through the Amansuri Wetlands to the village of Nzulezu. This 500 year-old settlement, on the tentative list of World Heritage sites, is built with branches of raffia palm and above a lagoon completely on stilts. Explore the walkways connecting living quarters to commercial ventures, primary school, and community centre to discover this unique way of life. Sample some of their famous local gin, akpeteshi, made from raffia palm.
In the afternoon, visit Fort Apollonia, the country’s westernmost colonial era fort, then sit back and unwind on the beach.

Mid-morning departure along the coast to the historic town of Cape Coast. Tour Cape Coast Castle, a World Heritage site and a former dungeon where captured slaves were held before being loaded onto ships bound for the Americas.
Continue on to your beach resort in Elmina for a well-deserved relaxation.

Early morning departure for Kakum National Park for spectacular scenery and wildlife, viewed from its 333m-long canopy walkway suspended up to 27m above the rainforest floor. We will visit the nearby crocodile ponds and weaverbird community at Hans Botel, as well as the International Stingless Bee Centre, a place of environmental education and ecotourism.
Off next to central Elmina to see the busy fishing lagoons and take the grand walkway to the hilltop Fort St. Jago. Enjoy a special cultural performance in the evening.

Departing today for the Volta River, with a coastal drive that turns inland after reaching suburban Accra. Visit a traditional bead workshop, where we can watch craftspeople at work with their creations. Cruise by motorboat on the famed Volta River to Akosombo dam. Enjoy some me-time at your perfect river-side resort.

We are experiencing two spectacular falls today! First, a scenic drive to Boti Falls, the most visited falls in the area, reached after climbing down 250 concrete steps. This seasonal falls is segmented (split-stream) during high flow. There is time for a short walk, or an optional 45-minute moderate forest hike to Umbrella Rock, offering an incredible vista from atop the rock formation. Next is Akaa Falls, also a seasonal falls that surrounds you in a canyon of falling water during full flow.

On your final day we depart for Accra, visiting sites along the way as time permits. Some options include Aburi Botanical Gardens or the Aburi Craft Market for traditional carvings and excellent bargains. True water lovers may sneak in a last-minute visit to the lively Labadi Beach in Accra, or choose to have a city tour (for extra fee). We will transport you safely to the airport two hours before your evening flight. Have a safe trip home, and come back soon for another unforgettable Ghanaian experience!
