Your two-day Eastern Ghana experience begins with a morning pickup in Accra at a location of your choice. Enjoy a panoramic view of the Accra plains from your air-conditioned vehicle.
Our first stop is Aburi Botanical Gardens, with a rich collection of tropical flora that attracts an abundance of birds and butterflies. Stroll in its serenity, or rent a bicycle (extra cost) to explore. There will be a quick visit to the Aburi Craft Market for traditional carvings at excellent bargains.
Next stop is Asenema Falls, a rarely-visited falls that is reached after a short walk along a stream.
On Wednesdays/Thursdays/Saturdays, we will visit Koforidua Bead Market, a traditional market believed to have been in existence for over 200 years. Here, you will find beads, jewellery, leather & cowry bags, brass artifacts, and more.
Head to your hotel for some poolside R&R. Overnight in a deluxe hotel outside Koforidua.
Total drive time: 2 hours
Two more spectacular falls today! Boti Falls, the most visited falls in the area, is located at the bottom of 250 concrete steps. This seasonal falls is segmented (split-stream) during high flow. There is time for a short walk, or an optional 45-min moderate forest hike to Umbrella Rock. Close to Boti is the Akaa Falls, also a seasonal falls reached by decending more steps. During full flow, you are surrounded in a canyon of falling water which is simply breathtaking. This is followed by a visit to the palace of the Paramount Chief of the 17 surrounding villages.
Adding another flavour to your day is a guided tour of Tetteh Quarshie Cocoa Farm, Ghana’s first cocoa farm. Tetteh Quarshie was a Ghanaian agriculturalist who first introduced cocoa to the country, leading Ghana to become a major cocoa producer.
Your memorable two-day experience concludes with a drop-off in Accra at a location of your choice.
