In the morning, we drive to the capital city of Rabat to discover Mohammed V’s mausoleum, the charming Kasbah of the Oudayas with traditional houses decorated with white and blue walls, and the Chellah, an old Roman city and one of Rabat’s most evocative sights. We continue on the road north, arriving in Chefchaouen, known for its charming palette of blue and white buildings. Embrace the culinary art of the region and stroll around its dazzling alleyways. You will spend the night in a hotel or riad.
Spend the whole day exploring the charming Blue City of Chefchaouen. Wander along the leather and weaving workshops lining the cobbled alleys. Visit the red-walled Kasbah at Place Outa el Hammam, or the Chefchouen Ethnographic Museum. Gaze at the magnificent octagonal minaret of the Great Mosque. Enjoy the local culinary delights.
After breakfast, we drive to the archeological ruins of Volubilis. These ruins are an outstanding example of the different kinds of civilizations that made Morocco their home and are still present in the cultural traditions of this country. It is an ideal place to take in its beauty and history. We then continue on to Fes, where we stay overnight.
Enjoy a guided tour of Fes, known as Morocco’s cultural capital. Walk the winding streets of car-free El Bali medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit pungent tanneries and souks piled high with spices and handicrafts. See Bab Boujeloud, the Jewish Quarter, Medersa Bou Inania, Nejjarine Square, and the Batha Museum.
From your hotel, we head to Ifrane in the Middle Atlas Mountains. It is known as the Switzerland of Morocco due to its alpine-style chalets and snow-capped ski slopes. We will visit the Great Cedar Forest near Azrou, then continue on to Erfoud, the gateway city to the Sahara, and visit the Tahiri Museum of Fossils & Minerals. In Rissani, we will visit a local souk. After arriving in Merzouga, we prepare for the camel ride to reach our desert camp. Spend a night in the Sahara Desert with dinner and enjoy the sun set among the dunes.
After enjoying the desert sunrise, we ride the camels back to Merzouga and be on our way. After crossing into the Dades Valley, we will have dinner and spend the night at a local riad.
Enjoy a morning hike in Dades Gorges, followed by a stop at Ouarzazate, a city south of the High Atlas mountains. We will visit the magnificent kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ouarzazate is also home to Atlas Film Studios, where visitors can tour sets from previously filmed movies. Your tour reaches its end in Marrakech around 7 p.m., after we drop you off at your hotel or another location as requested.
