Experience Overview
Open up your senses and experience the amazing power of nature as you stroll some of the spectacular countryside trails of the vast and intriguing Karoo, located in the Eastern Cape. Discover a new trail on each day of this 6-day Walking Experience as we explore mountains, river canyons, forests and open plains. Get up close to wild game such as zebra, eland, springbuck, wildebeest, baboons, jackals, giant tortoises and many others. Karoo is also home to the largest variety of succulents on earth, 40% of which are not found anywhere else. Your Experience Curator will share their insight on each trail’s local flora and fauna along the way.
Our guests only need to walk with light daypacks as most necessities are included in our package. Accommodation is provided in guest lodges for consecutive nights, to eliminate the stress of reaching a new location at the end of each day. Trails of medium to difficult rate levels have been selected; however, each trail is gauged according to our guests’ comfort level and walked at their pace to truly enjoy the immersion in nature.
Food is an important part of our Walking Experience and the guests are treated to an amazing gastronomical delight. All dishes have been locally hand-selected and are lovingly described as they are served. Soak up the sheer beauty of the night sky and constellation of stars by enjoying a meal out in the vastness of the Karoo plains (weather permitting).
Local culture is a key element of your experience, and we incorporate an exploration of indigenous San rock art site, a lecture on local fossil deposits, meeting local communities, and partaking in some exciting adventure activities. Re-align yourself and experience the healing power of Mother Nature in our specially selected, tranquil, low viral environments.
